Monika has been a physical therapist for over 20 years and has been intrigued by the complexity of individuals with acquired brain injuries since she began her practice in 2001. That interest and curiosity has taken her to different rehabilitation settings to continue learning about recovery at all stages.
She began her higher education by earning a B.S. in Microbiology from Auburn University in 1997 and went on to earn her Masters degree in Physical Therapy in 2001 from Georgia State University. Most of Monika’s rehabilitation career has been working in various settings with the Baptist Hospital System in Memphis,TN. She has been the recipient of the TN Brain Injury Association Giraffe Award for exceptional contribution to the TN TBI Association as well as placing as a top 5 finalist for the Memphis Business Journal's Health Care Hero Award. She has spoken on the topic of central nervous system movement disorders to Memphis area support groups, Fox "Health Matters", and regional conferences for the MS Society, West TN TBI Services, and Baptist Hospital System.
Monika was NDT trained and certified under Kay in 2013. She found a new challenge and interest in the problem solving process she experienced under Kay’s instruction. In 2016, Monika decided to pursue instructor training with Kay and Jason. She is happy to be an Associate Instructor with NeuroPro Education as she continues to learn and share about the Human Movement System and recovery after stroke and brain injury.
In 2018, Monika and her family relocated to Auburn, AL where she conducts her private practice, Smart Motion Physical Therapy. When she is not seeing patients, she likes to play tennis and constantly redecorate her home.
