NeuroPro Skills™ for

Nurses

Quality Continuing Education for Neurorehabilitation Professionals

Course
Description

Can "therapy" only happen with "therapists"? Our brains change with experience and repetition so each transfer, stand, walk, reach, or bed reposition can advance recovery or can reinforce bad habits and compensations. There is an opportunity, therefore, with each nursing contact to reinforce the lessons from therapy and dramatically improve patient outcomes. In this course, a bridge will be established between therapy and nursing so that nurses can further enhance their role on the rehabilitation team in promoting patient recovery.

Ideal for:

  • Registered Nurses
  • Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Nursing Assistants
  • Health Care Aides
  • Other Nursing Staff

Upon Completion

You’ll know how to:

Review the principles of neural plasticity and relate them to nursing practice

Understand normal components of movement during transfers, ADLs, walking, and bed mobility

Setup and provide guidance to the patient during active movement with safe mechanics, rather than lifting or passively moving body parts

Manage the hemiplegic arm and painful shoulder with a rehabilitative focus

Reinforce proper walking patterns when assisting a patient during ambulation
